1 x Permanent Part Time Shift Worker, working 24 hours per fortnight

Hours are fixed on a rotating monthly roster. Notwithstanding, these may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking highly motivated applicants to join our team of Hospital Aides in the area of Emergency at Mersey Community Hospital. The role of the Hospital Aide is to provide stock control, cleaning & resource maintenance services to the Emergency Department & Emergency Medical Unit at Mersey Community Hospital, Latrobe, Tasmania.

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, the primary responsibilities of this role are to maintain clean and hygienic surroundings to facilitate the control of infection, care for and clean basic ward equipment and maintain adequate stores and stock for the ED & EMU.  Additionally you will assist patients with aspects of daily living under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with minimal supervision in a multidisciplinary team environment and have a demonstrated knowledge of the cleaning standards required to prevent infection. You will use your ability to monitor equipment, stock levels and stores and order when appropriate to ensure adequate supplies are maintained on the ward. We are looking for a person that will support staff to deliver a high standard of care to our patients, previous experience of working with patients is highly desirable.

  • The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.  The following checks are to be conducted:
  1. Conviction checks in the following areas: a) Crimes of Violence, b) Sex Related Offences, c) Serious Drug Offences, d) Crimes involving dishonesty
  2. Identification check
  3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
